RA Awareness Week 2020
The Success of RAAW 2020!
RA Awareness Week has always been about raising awareness of RA and its impacts on all aspects of life. This year, especially taking into account recent events, the focus for NRAS RAAW was on physical and mental wellbeing.
We are very excited to say that we had 1,364 people registered for RAAW which then lead to 1,822 people booked to attend the online Wellbeing sessions throughout the week.

We will be looking to arrange some follow-on sessions going forward as we have found that this is a great way of sharing information and gettering people in similar situations together online. Feelings of wellbeing are fundamental to the overall health of a person, enabling them to successfully overcome some difficulties and achieve what they want out of life.
RAAW 7 - 13 September 2020
With RA Awareness Week (RAAW) 2020, our aim is to educate and inform the public about exactly what rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is and how it impacts those living with the condition. This year, especially taking into account recent events, the focus for NRAS RAAW will be on Physical and Mental Well-being.
Evidence gathered by the NHS suggests that these are the 5 steps to Mental Well-being:
1. Connect with other people
Good relationships are important for your mental well-being and providing emotional support and allows you to support others
2. Be physically active
Being active is not only good for your physical health and fitness, it can also improve your mental wellbeing
3. Learn new skills
Boosting self-confidence and raising self-esteem
4. Give to others
Creating positive feelings and a sense of reward
5. Pay attention to the present moment (mindfulness)
Mindfulness can help you enjoy life more and understand yourself better. It can positively change the way you feel about life and how you approach challenges.
To help support you, we will be hosting a week of free online well-being sessions, from Yoga to Mindfulness, Meditation to Qigong, Sleep to Diet/Nutrition and much more.
