Charity of the Year

Could NRAS be your Charity of the Year?

Does your employer support a charity on an annual basis? If so, please consider nominating NRAS as their Charity of the Year. It's a great way to raise awareness of both Rheumatoid Arthritis and the work NRAS does and gives colleagues the chance to take part in fun activities and challenges to raise the much needed funds we need to continue our work. Taking part in activities for a chosen Charity of the Year encourages team building, staff morale and can generate positive PR opportunities.

The Mayor of Tunbridge Wells

David Jukes, Mayor of Tunbridge Wells, has chosen NRAS as his charity to support for his year of office which started in May. David's son has RA and he has seen at first hand how difficult it can be to live with the disease on a daily basis when you are working full time and have young children.

David's first fundraiser was the Kent Cricket Week at Neville Cricket Ground in Kent. Through ticket sales, raffles and the sale of NRAS wristbands £1,700 was raised which is a great start to the year. Other events scheduled are a Clay Pigeon Shoot in September, the Mayor's Civic Dinner in October, a quiz night in January 2011 and a golf day in April 2011 to finish the year.

David is being supported by his team at the Mayor's office and the NRAS group in Tunbridge Wells. We are really excited about the activities planned and very grateful to David for choosing us as his chosen charity.

Chafes Solicitors

Chafes Solicitors have 4 offices in the South Manchester area and chose to support NRAS during 2009. Each year the practice nominates a charity to support and following a vote NRAS was chosen. Money was raised during the year from dress down days, staff cake bakes and a raffle at the Christmas party. Sandra, one of the coordinator's from the Bolton NRAS Group, went along to collect the cheque for £900 from Julia, marketing manager at Chafes.

We are very grateful to Chafes for nominating us and for raising a great total from their activities.

The National Courier Association

The National Courier Association (NCA) chose NRAS as its charity of the year for 2009. Vice Chairman, Tim Wilson, nominated us as his partner has RA. At its annual dinner in March £1,000 was raised from a raffle and an auction.

A huge thank you to the NCA for nominating us and to all it members for supporting us and donating prizes.

If you would like to nominate NRAS as your Charity of the Year we would love to hear from you. We will support you as much as we can, with lots of fundraising ideas,t-shirts, collection boxes, posters and masses of support!
