My experience of selling on eBay for Charity
How does getting rid of some of your unwanted 'stuff' and raising a little cash for yourself, while also helping your favourite charity sound?
Written by Richard, NRAS Member & Volunteer
A few weeks ago my wife and I decided that it was time we cleared out and redecorated our spare bedroom. I came across all sorts of things that I had been keeping ‘just in case they would be useful’; old cameras, camera lenses, cigarette cards, old computers, calculators, car manuals etc. I hate wasting things that could be useful to or wanted by others so, instead of a trip to the tip, I decided to put them on eBay. Selling through eBay is very simple and now allows you to pass a proportion on to a charity. I chose the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS) as I have had rheumatoid arthritis for almost 5 years now and I am an active member and volunteer of the charity.
When selling on eBay for charity, you are able to choose how much of your profits you would like to give to your chosen charity, so for more valuable items I chose 10% of the profits to go to NRAS, and less valuable items I chose 50%. When selling on the website, eBay will take a small amount of your profits as a charge, but the great thing about selling on eBay for charity is that they will reduce their fees to account for the amount of money that you give to charity…so, it all adds up.
Selling on eBay for charity is fun, easy and will put some extra cash in your pocket, as well as helping your favourite cause at the same time.
