NRAS and 68 other charities call on Prime Minister for revised funding settlement in health and care

Published: 15 Feb 2017

Ailsa Bosworth MBE, CEO and founder of the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society (NRAS) was one of sixty-eight charity leaders to sign a joint letter to the Prime Minister calling for a revised funding settlement for health and care.

In this letter to the Prime Minister, we describe the current pressure on health and care as “not acceptable or tenable”. We also call for the development of models of care that work for people with chronic needs, and confirmation of the government’s continued backing for the Five Year Forward View. The upcoming budget on Wednesday 8th March provides the Prime Minister and her cabinet team with a chance to help resolve the crisis facing health and care services.

NRAS has a special relationship with the Prime Minister, who is our founding patron. Our relationship with the Prime Minister has always been apolitical, it never has and never will influence our policy decision making which is entirely patient led. When services for people with rheumatoid arthritis or juvenile idiopathic arthritis are at risk or in need of improvement, we will always make your voice heard.
