RCN Clinical nurse specialists: adding value to care
‘Save our frontline staff’
The NHS has been told that it has to make £20 billion pounds in efficiency savings this year in order to re-invest for future service provision. The government has said that any cost savings should not be taken out of frontline services.
These frontline services include staff like our specialist rheumatology nurses. A recent study published this year by the Royal College of Nursing, looked at a number of interventions and procedures that specialist rheumatology nurses undertook during their working day. The findings were very positive and showed the true financial value that the rheumatology specialist nurse brings to the delivery of care for people with this disease.
