Suzanne Morris

RGN MSc

Withybush General Hospital, Haverfordwest

Suzanne has been the Rheumatology Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) at Withybush General Hospital, Pembrokeshire for seven years. She qualified at Gloucester Royal Hospital in 1991, before gaining orthopaedic specialisation in 1993. Working in several hospitals across southern England, Suzanne acquired a decade’s experience in orthopaedic nursing, including high dependency units and ward management. However, a desire for increased patient contact and the lure of her native Pembrokeshire drew Suzanne to the CNS role at Withybush.

Suzanne’s clinical responsibilities include conducting nurse-led follow-up, joint injection, infusion and education clinics, and managing the telephone helpline. She has tried to develop the rheumatology nursing service based on the needs of her patients, both locally (e.g. by hosting the first NRAS expert patient training day in Wales) and nationally (through encouraging other centres to promote patient support networks).  She regularly takes part in professional advisory boards and has experience in teaching rheumatology modules for non-medical prescribers.
