Dr. Janet McDonagh

Dr Janet McDonagh is a Clinical Senior Lecturer in Paediatric and Adolescent Rheumatology at the University of Birmingham and Birmingham Children’s Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Her main clinical and research interests are in adolescent health, chronic illness and transitional care, and has worked in an advisory capacity on these issues to the Department of Health in recent years.

She also has a major interest in the development of training in adolescent health and is the author of the transition and chronic illness sessions in the RCPCH Adolescent Health Training Project. She is a trustee of the National Association for Young People’s Health and a steering Group Member of the RCPCH Young People’s Health SIG. She is also editor of “Adolescent Rheumatology” published in 2008 – a textbook highlighting the generic aspects of adolescent health in rheumatology and including a chapter written by young people themselves!
