Janet Gardner-Medwin is an ARC Senior Lecturer in Paediatric Rheumatology. Educated at Bristol University with a BSc in Biochemistry (1985), MBChB (1988), Nottingham University MRCP (1991), PhD (1997) and training in paediatrics and paediatric rheumatology in Birmingham (ARC Lecturer at Birmingham University 1996-2001) before being appointed as an ARC Senior Lecturer in Paediatric Rheumatology to Glasgow University (2002 to the present).
Janet Gardner-Medwin has an interest in the long term outcome of paediatric rheumatic diseases. Her current interests are in predictors of premature cardiovascular disease early in these chronic inflammatory diseases, the use of imaging (USS and MRI) in defining disease activity and the relationship to outcome, and in the relationship between early aggressive management of many aspects of disease ranging from uveitis to foot involvement in JIA and its relationship to long term outcome.
