Dr Kay has been a consultant Rheumatologist at Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust since 2000.  She trained in Oxford as a medical student and most of her training subsequently has been in the North East of England, apart from a six month period working in Public Health in Cambridge.  She has been a clinical director for Musculoskeletal services (which includes Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Metabolic Bone Disease) since 2007.

Her clinical interests in Rheumatology particularly include use of biologic agents, and patient education.
