Dr Charles Hutton

Dr Hutton trained in medicine at Bristol University and after general medical training in Newcastle Upon Tyne did Specialist Rheumatology training in Bath and Bristol.

He was appointed consultant rheumatologist in 1988 at Derriford Hospital, Plymouth where he has developed the multi-disciplinary rheumatology team based on specialist nurse practice. He has helped to set up the undergraduate and post graduate teaching programmes in bone and joint medicine.

He has a longstanding research interest in osteoarthritis and bone disease. He continues a research interest in mechanisms of cartilage.

His leisure interest is painting and photography. He has written and illustrated a children’s book!
