Dorothy J Pattison
PhD RD
Dorothy worked as an NHS dietitian for several years before getting involved in rheumatology and soon found that being a member of the rheumatology team was a rewarding and hugely enjoyable experience. Dietitians aren’t seen as integral members of the rheumatology team yet, but she is working on it! She has continued to focus her interests around diet therapy in arthritis and related conditions, through both research and clinical work. In 2001, she joined the ARC Epidemiology Unit in Manchester to explore the role of diet in the development of inflammatory arthritis and gained a PhD for this work.
Now she is living in Cornwall and is still involved in arthritis research, lecturing and writing for books and journals on diet and arthritis.
Away from work, she loves gardening and has just started a horticultural course, and is on horseback whenever possible.
