Employment & Benefits

Most people with RA are diagnosed when of working age and one of the first anxieties you may have, especially if you have already taken time off work prior to being diagnosed, is ‘how is my RA going to impact on my ability to work?’ Wondering how and if to explain to your employer that you have a long term condition can be emotionally difficult, especially when you may be feeling vulnerable. NRAS have developed two booklets, one for employees and one for employers to give you all the information you need to help you through these decisions and our trained helpline team are only a phone call away. To order these booklets, please click here.

The benefits system can also seem unbelievably complicated, especially if you are feeling unwell and suffering from fatigue which is a common side effect of RA. We have two booklets which can help and which have been specifically tailored to people with RA. One booklet is about applying for Disability Living Allowance and the other covers the spectrum of general benefits and grants available. To order, please click here.
