Although Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is as an inflammatory disease of synovial tissue, where persistent inflammation and proliferation of the joint lining leads to painful symptoms and destruction of cartilage and bone, it is worth emphasising that the inflammatory process can involve a number of other tissues and organs.
