Women feel more pain due to rheumatoid
arthritis than men according to
new research
Taken from NRAS magazine, Spring 2009
A consultant rheumatologist in Finland, analysed data from 6,000 people with rheumatoid arthritis patients in 25 countries and found that although women and men had similar levels of the disease, women experienced more severe symptoms.
The consultant said: "We believe this relates to how strong women are. It's obvious that men are stronger with a higher muscle mass. Our findings were particularly obvious in older women, who are losing their muscle mass little by little every year.”
