The Disease Activity Score (DAS) is an assessment used to measure the level of disease activity in people with rheumatoid arthritis (RA).
The assessment involves the examination of joints for swelling and tenderness, a review of recent blood test results and a one-to-one consultation between the patient and healthcare professional. The results are then combined to produce a score which indicates how active the rheumatoid arthritis is at that particular time and can be used to guide decisions on future treatment.
The following materials have been developed to help people with rheumatoid arthritis and healthcare professionals gain a greater understanding of DAS and to ensure assessments take place on a regular basis.
